How The Exchange Works
Musicians sell directly to musicians. No middleman markups, no warehouse inventory — just real people trading real gear, backed by our protection programs.
A Marketplace Built for Musicians
The Exchange is a peer-to-peer marketplace where musicians buy and sell instruments, amps, pedals, pro audio, and more directly to each other. We don't hold inventory — every listing is posted by an individual seller, and every purchase goes directly to them. Our job is to make the transaction safe, transparent, and fair for both sides.

Selling on The Exchange
Create Your Account
Sign up with your name, email, and location. No subscription, no monthly fees. Your account is your seller profile — buyers see your name, location, ratings, and badges.
List Your Gear
Fill out the listing form with your item's details — title, category, brand, condition, description, photos, and your asking price. Choose from 17 categories covering everything from electric guitars to pro audio. You set the price; buyers can also send offers.
We Review & Publish
Unlike open marketplaces, every listing on The Exchange is manually reviewed by our team before it goes live. We check for accuracy, appropriate condition grading, photo quality, and fair pricing. If we need changes, we'll message you. Most listings are approved within 24 hours.
Connect with Buyers
Once live, buyers can view your listing, ask questions through our messaging system, make offers, or purchase at your asking price. You control the process — accept, decline, or counter any offer.
Ship & Get Paid
When an item sells, pack it carefully and ship with tracking. We hold the buyer's payment securely. After delivery and a 72-hour buyer inspection window, your payout is released.
Buying on The Exchange
Browse & Search
Search across 17 categories of music gear. Filter by category, condition, price range, brand, and more. Every listing has been reviewed by our team — you're only seeing gear that meets our quality standards.
Ask Questions & Make Offers
Every listing page shows the seller's details, ratings, and verification status. Message the seller directly with questions about the item. If the price isn't right, make an offer — many sellers are open to negotiation.
Purchase Securely
Pay through The Exchange — never outside the platform. Your payment is held securely in escrow. The seller doesn't get paid until you've received and inspected the item. This protects you from fraud and misrepresentation.
Receive & Inspect
Your gear arrives with tracking. You have a full 72-hour inspection window to check everything — play it, inspect it, compare it to the listing. If it's not as described, report the issue and we'll process a refund. If everything checks out, the seller gets paid.
Rate & Review
After the transaction, leave a review for the seller. Your feedback helps other buyers make informed decisions and rewards honest sellers with higher ratings and badges.
Why You Can Trust The Exchange
Simple, Transparent Pricing
No listing fees. No subscription. You only pay when you sell.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is The Exchange like eBay or Craigslist?
No. The Exchange is a curated, music-focused peer-to-peer marketplace. Unlike open platforms, every listing is manually reviewed before publishing. We provide escrow payment protection, a 72-hour buyer inspection window, and dedicated dispute resolution — things you won't get on classified sites.
What's the difference between The Exchange and The Musicians Club store?
The Musicians Club is our main store selling new instruments from authorized dealers. The Exchange is our peer-to-peer marketplace where individual musicians sell their own gear to other musicians. Different channels, same commitment to quality and trust.
What can I sell?
Anything music-related in functional condition: guitars, basses, amps, effects pedals, keyboards, synthesizers, brass, woodwinds, strings, drums, percussion, DJ gear, lighting, pro audio, home audio, folk instruments, parts, and accessories. See our Community Guidelines for what's not allowed.
How am I protected as a buyer?
Every purchase is covered by our Buyer Protection program. Your payment is held in escrow until you receive and inspect the item. If it's not as described, you get a full refund. You have 72 hours after delivery to report any issues.
How am I protected as a seller?
Confirmed payments before you ship, shipping with tracking verification, fair dispute mediation, and seller badges that build your reputation over time. See our Seller Protection page for details.
When do I get paid as a seller?
After the buyer receives the item and the 72-hour inspection window closes without a dispute, your payout is processed. You receive 90% of the sale price (after the 10% commission).
