Selling

How do I list an instrument?

Click "Sell" in the navigation, fill out the form with your instrument details, upload photos, and submit. Our team reviews every listing within 24-48 hours.

What does it cost to sell?

The Exchange charges a 10% fee only when your item sells. There are no listing fees, monthly fees, or hidden charges. If your instrument sells for $1,000, you receive $900.

How do I get paid?

After your item is delivered and a 72-hour review window passes, we send your payout via your preferred method (PayPal, Venmo, Zelle, Wise, bank transfer, or check).

Can I edit my listing after submitting?

Yes. Log into your account and click "Edit" next to any listing that hasn't sold. Changes go through a quick review before going live.

Can I withdraw my listing?

Yes. From your account, you can withdraw any active listing at any time. There are no penalties for withdrawing.

Buying

How does the condition grading work?

Every instrument is graded on a 4-tier system: Mint (like new), Excellent (minimal wear), Very Good (light wear), and Good (normal wear). All grades mean the instrument is fully functional.

What if the instrument isn't as described?

You have 72 hours after delivery to inspect the instrument. If it doesn't match the listing, you can open a dispute and we'll mediate a resolution, including full refunds when appropriate.

Can I make an offer below asking price?

On listings that accept offers, yes. Submit your offer and the seller will be notified. They can accept, reject, or counter.

How do offers work?

Many listings accept offers. Submit your best price and the seller can accept, counter, or decline. If accepted, you'll receive a secure checkout link to complete the purchase.

What can I sell on The Exchange?

The Exchange covers the full range of music gear: guitars, basses, amps, effects pedals, keyboards & synths, brass, woodwinds, strings, drums & percussion, DJ & lighting, pro audio, home audio, folk instruments, parts, and accessories. All items must be in functional condition.

Do you ship internationally?

Sellers choose whether to ship domestically, internationally, or both. Check each listing for shipping details.

How do I contact support?

Use the contact form on any listing page, or reach out through your account messages. We typically respond within 24 hours.
